Rachel came home the other day to go to the dentist. She said she was only planning on staying for a few hours. After her appointment she stopped by our office building to let us know how it went. Ken wasn’t in the building at the time, so she gave me an update and said she would swing by the house before she headed out of town. When Ken returned, I told him about Rachel’s dentist visit then asked him about dinner. We decided to make meatloaf and mashed potatoes since it was too hot and we couldn’t make it earlier in the week. I told him I would invite Aaron because that was his original plan. Not two minutes after I text Aaron telling him about dinner and what time, he text me back and said Rachel was coming too. Cool! I didn’t think she was staying in town that long.

Rach arrived at the house soon after we got home from work and asked, “Why didn’t you invite me for meatloaf dinner too?” Umm, because we thought you would already be heading back to Green Bay by dinner time. Her response, “I will stay for dinner any time!” Dinner was good and you would think I had starving children by the way they inhaled their food. LOL! It’s been about 2 months since Rachel has had a home-cooked meal and only about a week and a half for Aaron. I think if their bellies hadn’t gotten so full, they would have eaten more!

My kids are not cooks but they do get by with pizzas, skillet dinners, frozen foods and fast food (although Aaron is trying his hand a few different things here and there). I did try to get Rachel to help out in the kitchen several years ago but she just wasn’t interest and even got grossed out one time by raw chicken. It was kind of funny… she was afraid to touch the chicken and barely poked at it with one finger. The part that grossed her out was when I grabbed her hands and placed them right on the chicken. Since then, the only real cooking she does is an occasional pineapple upside down cake her grandma taught her how to make when she was little.

One of these days she will come to me and ask how I cook this or that. At least I’m hoping. I know for me, I was never a cook when I was younger and many times wish I knew how to cook some of the stuff my mom use to make. Mom was an awesome cook!

As of last night, the Packers preseason is complete. I only went to one of the two home games, which was last Thursday, but we had a blast and the Pack pounded Indy!!

Some of the highlights of my trip to Green Bay last Thursday…

I had to drive there and locate Rachel’s apartment by myself because that’s where everyone was meeting up. I have been to Green Bay many times and driven there only a few times. Prior to last week the only places I absolutely knew my way to was Lambeau Field, Red Lobster and the airport (priorities). Since I was only ever at Rachel’s apartment once (and I am geographically challenged) Ken gave me directions (which totally confused me at first) and I was on my way. By the time I got to the city, traffic was heavy and I was sooo nervous. In case you don’t know this, I have major problems riding/driving in city traffic… I get extremely nervous, to the point I make myself sick. I did find Rachel’s place without getting lost but my nervousness got the best of me. I can usually handle Green Bay but this time… extreme nausea set in. By the time I arrived at my destination, I felt sick. The sickness did subside after about a half hour.

We all had a lot of fun at the game except for the fact Lambeau Field no longer has any accommodations for smokers. Not only that, if you want to go outside to have a cigarette, they WILL NOT let you back in (even with your ticket). It’s a good thing I asked a security guard about smoking areas before I decided to venture outside! I don’t understand why they will not even let people go up to the floor (where at each end zone it is uncovered and totally wide open) to smoke. So totally not fair!

Robby (Rachel’s ‘guy friend’), Rachel, Me and Kit-Kat at Lambeau

Since the game was pretty much a blowout, we left early in the 4th quarter to start our barhopping. Too much fun! We even ran into Skippy (DJ for the Stadium View bar). It was too cool that not long after we got there he gave all of us girls t-shirts.

Rachel, Skippy and Kit-Kat

My plan was to take the next morning off work but that didn’t happen. (oops!) I woke up a little late and called in for the whole day. I probably could have made it if I really rushed. Oh well, it was a Friday and turns out everyone got let out of work early that day. Rushing to get back to work for only 2 hours would not have been worth it. :-D

So now that the preseason is done, I say game on!! Go Pack Go!! :-)

This past week has been a week of getting things all fixed up again.

First, Ken had the windshield on his truck fixed from when we went on our vacation. It’s hard to believe but this is already the third windshield replacement since he bought the truck!!

Next, I finally gave in and went to the chiropractor to get my back fixed up. Man, it feels so much better! Doctor Scott said it was “really messed up”! Oh, he asked if I had seen him flying over our house the night before. I did see him and he saw Ken but I guess he didn’t see me. I was the one with the camera standing behind the one with the camera taking pictures. :-)

Finally, the passenger side (dim) headlight on my car went out. Ken was going to change it and then he found out what a tight squeeze it was. He thought it might be a good idea to have a garage change it. Heck with that!! The amount they charge for any repair on my car is outrageous! So I got on the internet and found instruction on how to change it ourselves. Easy peasy! Yeah right. After close to an hour of trying to get the blasted headlight out of it’s space and a lot of frustration and I’m sure a bit of cussing, Ken finally got the bulb replaced. (No thanks to that green wire that needed to be hooked back up with zero slack to give.) Anyways, the dim headlight bulb was replaced and everything was put back where it belonged and we test it out. *SIGH* The dims worked but no longer did the brights. GEEZ! Ken was determined to get that headlight fixed before I left to Green Bay the next day (even though I wasn’t driving after dark), so he beat it to town to buy the bright headlight bulb before the store closed… he had 25 minutes. The headlight was fixed before I left for Green Bay, we saved probably $40-60 on labor repairs and to quote Ken’s Facebook, “Oh my freakin’ god!!, changing a headlight on a VW Beetle is a Mother effer!!! But I have gained new found knowledge.” LOL.

Day 3 – Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park and Old Faithful

It is so hard to pick which day of our vacation was the best because they were all pretty darned good. But if I had to choose which day had the best scenery, it would have to be this one. We were in awe and I took sooo many pictures this day… I believe approximately 150!

Approaching Grand Teton just made us gasp because it was so awesome…

It was so hard to choose which pictures to include in this entry. Here is another view of the Grand Teton near a lake. Just amazing!!

It’s hard to leave a view like that but we wanted to make it to Yellowstone that day

We encountered some construction not long after we got there and had to follow a pilot car (truck) for about 4 miles. It wouldn’t have been bad except for the fact a rock hit the windshield. By the end of the day two cracks started making their way up the driver’s side of the windshield.

We stopped at a waterfall (can’t remember what is was called though)…

And then continued on to see Old Faithful

That was too cool! We also stopped at a geiser (can’t remember what it was called either)

Which was also cool. We could actually see the water in the geiser bubbling up!

We made out way to the hotel and suddenly traffic slowed to a crawl. Come to find out there was an elk walking down the road and a mother and baby off the side of the road.

I just have to say again… the scenery that day was awesome!! If you would like to see more pictures, go here. So far I’ve only uploaded the first two days of our trip.

I think my vacuum cleaner has been out of my house more lately than been here. I was looking for it while Ken was in Oklahoma because Bonnie wanted to borrow it. He told me he took it to Aaron’s place when I went up home for the the weekend. I had Aaron drop it off and Bonnie picked it up not long after. She kept forgetting to drop it off when she was finished with it and I kept forgetting to swing by her house whenever I went to town, so it’s been probably a month since it’s been home. My rugs were screaming to be vacuumed! I finally remembered to pick it up while in town yesterday but not before Aaron asked if he could borrow it again. I got it home, vacuumed the rugs and, within an hour, Aaron picked it up. I wonder how long it will be away from home this time. :-)
