Planning For Spring

I’ve decided since my little “garden” of two plants went so well last summer, I want to plant a real, honest-to-goodness garden this year. Nothing huge but with stuff we will actually use. I definitely want to plant tomatoes and cucumbers. Beyond that… I’m not sure. I’m still debating on having onions and zucchini.

When I asked Ken if he had any ideas of what to put in the garden, he said, “It’s going to be your garden. Put in it whatever you like.” You know what that means in his mind… my garden, my weeds, it’s going to be my job. Well yeah! I was just asking for a little input.

I was also seriously thinking about ordering a couple of rhubarb plants because rhubarb is most awesome! Little did I know (until a couple of weeks ago) that you can’t harvest rhubarb for the first year. What is up with that?!? My seriously thinking dropped several notches down to maybe because I don’t know if I could plant rhubarb and wait for a whole year to pick some off!

Grab some rhubarb plants from someone else’s yard early on … then they will harvest this year for you. Be careful tho, rhubarb is a crazy spreader. I wouldn’t keep in in a contained garden
